Two route launches are set for take-off this weekend as Stansted prepares to welcome nearly quarter of a million passengers through its doors across the Bank Holiday.
Aurigny launch a new daily service to Jersey on Friday, just in time for the Jersey Boat Show which starts 02-May; and bank holiday Monday will welcome touchdown of Pegasus Airline's direct connection to Bodrum on Turkey's magical Aegean coast.
Commercial and development director at Stansted Airport, Nick Barton said, "Both Aurigny and Pegasus have grown successful services at Stansted and so we're delighted to see them develop new routes from here this summer.”
"In fact, given the current economic climate, we were delighted to hear that since announcing these new routes back in March, both Aurigny and Pegasus have experienced higher than anticipated sales volumes."
Aurigny's Commercial Director, Malcolm Coupar said:
"Aurigny has been operating in the Channel Islands for over 40 years and demand for air links to Jersey, to experience the charm of continental Europe without the Euro, has never dwindled. We've recently taken delivery of two brand new aircraft, which will operate regularly between Jersey and Stansted, a route which will be hugely attractive to business travellers too given the island's status as an important offshore finance centre."
Speaking about the new Bodrum route, General Manager of Pegasus Airlines, Sertac Haybat explained:
"Our direct links into Stansted are hugely important and development of the Bodrum route has been as a direct result of growing demand from the UK travel market. Turkey has fast become one of the most popular sunshine destinations on the market and we're delighted to offer this new link from Stansted giving passengers cheap and easy access to this jewel on the Aegean Coast."
