GERMANY : Air Berlin stated it remains determined to acquire a 75% stake in Condor in February next year and the remaining 25% in the following year. The company also denied a report that Air Berlin was intent on provoking the Federal Cartel Office into rejecting the application currently under scrutiny by its lack of co-operation. Air Berlin added that any rejection of the takeover bid will not be taken lying down.

GERMANY : Air Berlin announced it will offer passengers the ability to checkin for their flight or reserve a seat via their mobiles. The MMS check-in facility means that travellers can choose to have their boarding pass sent directly to their mobile. The MMS contains a bar code that is scanned in from the mobile phone at the gate, together with all the important passenger information, such as name and flight number.

GERMANY : Air Berlin, in conjunction with its co-operation partner, LG Walter, will be offering non-stop flights from Dortmund and Hanover to the island of Sylt for the first time on 01-May-08. Air Berlin will operate twice weekly service from Dortmund and Hanover to Westerland.

GERMANY : Air Berlin announced it carried more than 2.1 million passengers in Mar-08. Air Berlin reported that in Mar-08, a total of 2,175,427 passengers travelled on Air Berlin (including its subsidiaries LTU and Belair, and the airline company Walter), representing an increase of 5.5% year-on-year.

GERMANY : (XFN Asia) Russian investor, Leonard Blavatnik, is reportedly intending to buy the 18.56% stake in Air Berlin Plc. that has been sold by investor, Vatas. Air Berlin stated Vatas subsidiary, Haarlem One, sold its stake in Air Berlin after three months.

GERMANY : (XFN Asia) Air Berlin PLC has cut its full year 2008 EBIT forecast to EUR73-120 million from the EUR140-160 million range it announced in Nov-07. Air Berlin stated the downward revision is due to the more than EUR10 million it now estimates as start-up costs of its new long-haul services to China.
