FRANCE : Air France and OnAir announced the launch of their first inflight mobile phone service. Air France will be trialling the service, which is the first to offer passengers the full range of mobile communications services, including voice, SMS and email. Air France and OnAir have been trialling the first international inflight mobile phone service since 17-Dec-07.

UNITED KINGDOM : AerCap Holdings announced that its subsidiary, AeroTurbine, entered into a component purchase and sale agreement and a component lease agreement with British Airways. Under the agreements, AeroTurbine will purchase British Airways’ entire stock of wheels and brakes for the Boeing 737, 757, 767, 777, and 747-400 and will lease the same back to British Airways for a period of between six years and ten years, in line with British Airways’ fleet renewal plans.

AUSTRIA : Austrian Airlines celebrated its 50th year of operations on 31-Mar-08. To celebrate the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first Austrian Airlines scheduled flight, the company has launched services using one of its aircraft in a design dating back to the 1950s. The Austrian Airbus A320 now appears in the same design as the first aircraft ever flown by Austrian Airlines, the Vickers Viscount 779 from Vienna to London, from 1958.

TURKEY : Turkish Airlines has joined Star Alliance as its 20th member airline. Turkish Airlines brings to the Star Alliance an additional 31 destinations, in Turkey, Central Asia and the Middle East. Overall, Star Alliance now offers 18,000 daily flights serving 965 airports in 162 countries.

FRANCE : Delta Air Lines and Air France officially launched their JV agreement, leveraging the new EU-US Open Skies agreement, with three new trans-Atlantic routes connecting London-Heathrow to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

GERMANY : (XFN-ASIA) Bank of China has signed agreements with Deutsche Lufthansa AG for the financing of two Airbus A330-300 aircraft under Japanese operating lease structures. BOC Aviation, a wholly owned subsidiary of the bank, acted as the debt arranger. The euro-denominated facilities of USD154 million are for a term of over 12 years. This is the first aircraft debt facility arranged for Lufthansa by a Chinese bank.
