GERMANY : (XFN-ASIA) Bank of China has signed agreements with Deutsche Lufthansa AG for the financing of two Airbus A330-300 aircraft under Japanese operating lease structures. BOC Aviation, a wholly owned subsidiary of the bank, acted as the debt arranger. The euro-denominated facilities of USD154 million are for a term of over 12 years. This is the first aircraft debt facility arranged for Lufthansa by a Chinese bank.

Bombardier Aerospace announced that Grupo SATA has signed a contract to acquire four Q400 NextGen aircraft for its SATA Air Acores regional carrier. The contract is valued at USD113 million.

NORWAY : (XFN Asia) Shares in Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA fell after Goldman Sachs reiterated its 'conviction sell' recommendation on the stock due to rising fuel costs and a full valuation. Shares in Norwegian Air Shuttle were down 2.44% at NOK120.

GERMANY : (XFN Asia) Air Berlin PLC has cut its full year 2008 EBIT forecast to EUR73-120 million from the EUR140-160 million range it announced in Nov-07. Air Berlin stated the downward revision is due to the more than EUR10 million it now estimates as start-up costs of its new long-haul services to China.

Czech Airlines launched another code-share cooperation with its new partner, China Airlines, offering connection between Czech Republic and Taiwan. Czech Airlines and China Airlines commenced code-shared cooperation on the Prague-Taipei route, with a transfer in Frankfurt on 30-Mar-08. The cooperation also allowed both carrier’s passengers’ miles credited in their frequent flyer programme account even for flights flown with the partner airline, and can use reward tickets on all of the scheduled flights of both carrier.

FINLAND : Finnair, which celebrates its 85th anniversary in 2008, took delivery of its 200th aircraft on 29-Mar-08. The 200th aircraft in Finnair’s fleet history is an Embraer 190. The 100th aircraft to Finnair’s fleet, in 1986, was an ATR42 propeller driven aircraft. The average age of Finnair’s European fleet is approximately four years.
