Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, today (17th June) announced that passengers can now choose a larger (20kg) checked-in bag allowance for €/£25 as an alternative to Ryanair’s standard (15kg) checked-in bag allowance which costs €/£15. Passengers who require a second checked-in bag can purchase an additional 15kg allowance for €/£35 (via Manage my Booking).

The code share agreement between Air Jamaica and Virgin Atlantic Airways has been terminated. This agreement under which Air Jamaica booked passengers on flights operated by Virgin Atlantic between Jamaica and London Gatwick had been in place since 2007.

Ryanair, Ireland’s favourite airline, today (16th June) called on the Irish Govt to end the crisis in Irish traffic/tourism by scrapping its €10 tourist tax and reversing the DAA’s up to 40% price increases during 2010, as it revealed that traffic at Dublin Airport fell by over 550,000 passengers in April, due to the volcanic ash disruption, but fell by more than 650,000 in the first three months of the year due to the Govt’s €10 tourist tax and high charges at the DAA monopoly airport.

The annual general meeting of Air Berlin, the second largest German airline, was held in London on Thursday. Joachim Hunold, the company’s CEO, made it clear that Air Berlin wants to improve on the operating result for the previous year in 2010.
