Czech Airlines won the tender for the provision of handling services in Prague for Air France-KLM flights. The new 2009/2010 Czech Airlines winter flight schedule will see a change in the days of the week of the scheduled Prague New York (JFK) flights. Direct flights will depart from Prague every day except Thursdays and Saturdays at 9:30 CET and will be operated exclusively by Czech Airlines SkyTeam Alliance partner, Delta Air Lines. The return flights will depart from New York every day except for Wednesdays and Fridays at 17:05 local time. SunExpress announced its 6 months operational results for 2009. The Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa joint venture continued to its growth and improved the number of its passengers by 34, 1% to 2.382.000 in the first 6 months of 2009. At the first half of the year, SunExpress performed 17.049 flights (+31, 3%) and flew a total of 41.137 block hours (+21, 1%). In the first six months of 2009 Adria Airways carried a total of 503,438 passengers, a decline of 16% on the same period of 2008. Aeroflot has summarized its performance in for March and Q1 2009.In Mar-09, the company carried 604,600 passengers (including 1,900 by charter), and performed 1,792 million passenger kilometers. The prompt reduction of flight frequency on a number of routes was done with respect to the lower demand for air services and to allow lower costs. In this connection, the work load in March decreased by 16.5% (119,100 passengers) compared to the level of 2008.

Czech Airlines continues to make its operations more efficient, even in the third year of its OK 2006 - 2008 Revitalisation Strategy. This year, the Airline agreed to new conditions with its suppliers for nearly 700 contracts, realising savings of nearly CZK 400 million in input costs, primarily on navigation fees, aircraft handling, and information technologies.

Wizz Air is outraged by the fact that PPL (Polish Airport Authorities) will close the Etiuda Terminal and double the charges imposed on airlines currently operating out of Etiuda effectively from Apr-09. PPL has confirmed no plans for re-accommodating the low cost carriers other than proposing the prohibitive charges currently available for operations out of the main terminal of Warsaw Airport.

Embraer is pleased to welcome Arkia Israeli Airlines to its E-Jets customer family. The airline will operate one EMBRAER 195 jet from Tel Aviv to major Mediterranean and European destinations. S7 Airlines has begun to operate flights between Moscow and Vladikavkaz on a Airbus A319 airliner. The aircraft replaces a Soviet-made Tu-154. On 18-Nov-08 the Vladikavkaz Airport was certified to service Airbus A319 airplanes.

AWAS has concluded a lease transaction for a second Boeing 767-300ER to S7 Airlines. This is the second 767-300ER which AWAS have leased to S7 this year. S7 Airlines is currently implementing a fleet modernisation strategy which involves replacing their domestically-produced aircraft with more fuel-efficient western aircraft.

S7 Airlines has successfully completed the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA)*, extending the certificate that it obtained in Sep-07 to 2010. The second IOSA audit, conducted by the officially accredited IATA organisation ARGUS/PROS, was completed at S7 Airlines in Oct-08 and consisted of two stages: an initial assessment of the state of safety and the company’s preparedness for the audit and the main audit of the state of operational safety.
