Virgin Atlantic, one of the world's leading long-haul airlines, has asked the US Department of Transport to call for more documents from BA and American Airlines after it emerged that there were many highly relevant documents missing from their latest submission of evidence.

Virgin Atlantic urged the European Commission to reject the planned virtual merger between BA and American Airlines. In an extensive document submitted to the European Commission competition authorities Virgin Atlantic says that BA and American Airlines, if allowed to combine, would use their market power to raise fares, adjust schedules to keep out competitors and cut off connecting feeder traffic to other carriers at Heathrow.

Without any facts or data to oppose the antitrust immunity application by American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia, Virgin Atlantic instead has resorted to baseless arguments and hypocritical scare tactics.
